Fledgling Entrepreneurs!

So here we are - the summer holidays!  Normally I dread this time of year, the farmers working all hours throughout the summer bringing in the harvest .... whilst I and the other farmers wives try desperately to entertain the unruly and more than marginally feral little people.. (this time last year I had 3 ... now there are 4!) In the past I spent a fortune on activities and entertainment to keep everyone from killing each other, waiting for friends to return from their summer holidays so that I could organise the demanded play dates and visits, driving all over the county delivering and collecting children. 1 Year!

The decision to turn my passion for art into a business came a bit out of the blue!  I first picked up a paintbrush just over a year ago.  I wanted a pheasant picture for my own home, but I couldn’t find one that was quite right (and in my price bracket!) so I decided to just have a go myself. After the first picture didn’t turn out too badly, I thought I’d carry on and try my hand at a few more birds and animals. My Inspiration.

I’ve always wanted my own business. I remember being asked at school to write about a person who I found inspirational, and I wrote about my Granny - ‘Diana Chudley’.  Diana was an amazing person – she started her life in an orphanage, fortunately was adopted by a wonderful lady, and went on to have an incredible and successful life. Diana always loved animals, particularly horses.  Her first business was offer rides in her pony and trap.  She would also collect up and sell the manure to local people for their gardens! Why do it?!

People often ask me, 'why do you do it?' What they mean by that is : ‘Why juggle your life with 4 young children, a busy household to run, and start-up and build a full-time business?'
